Engaging at the Langston University Black History Symposium
Parkers Hope for Mental Wellness was honored to participate in the Black History Symposium at Langston University’s Tulsa campus on February 19, 2026, where the team hosted a booth, attended symposium sessions, and continued building relationships as a practicum site supporting students in the rehabilitative counseling program.
The event created meaningful space for learning, visibility, and community connection. The program also featured sessions and presentations centered on healing, including music therapy and mental health-focused wellness topics, reinforcing the importance of culturally grounded conversations around care, education, and recovery. Parkers Hope is proud to support opportunities that connect students, professionals, and community members through shared learning and purpose.
Black History Symposium
The Black History Symposium at Langston University Tulsa Campus is a special event held during Black History Month, focusing on cultural and therapeutic themes like music's healing power. It took place on February 19, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at the campus located at 914 N. Greenwood Ave. in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Hosted by Langston University’s Chi Sigma Iota, Lambda Upsilon chapter, The Power Hour with Dr. Phillip Lewis, and Grand Mental Health, the symposium featured singer/musician Kevin Hamilton delivering a non-verbal music therapy session. This experience aimed to promote nervous system regulation, stress relief, and embodied awareness via sound and rhythm.
