Latia Parker, Founder & Executive Director

 

Latia Parker is the heart and soul behind Parker's Hope for Mental Wellness and BLJ Counseling & Consulting PC.

As the Founder and Chief Executive Officer, she is passionate about improving access to quality behavioral health services and empowering individuals, families, and communities to achieve lasting emotional wellness.

Latia is a Licensed Professional Counselor/Supervisor (LPC-S), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor/Mental Health Professional (LADC/MH), State-Certified ADSAC Assessor, and Case Manager III. She specializes in trauma-informed care, anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief, life transitions, family conflict, and other complex mental health concerns. Her compassionate, person-centered approach focuses on helping individuals build resilience, strengthen healthy relationships, and reach their personal goals.

Work Experience

With more than 25 years of clinical experience, Latia has made a lasting impact on the behavioral health community throughout Tulsa and surrounding areas. Her professional experience includes serving individuals and families through organizations such as Tulsa CASA, Goodwin & Goodwin Law Firm, Tulsa County Court Services, New Discoveries Youth and Family Services, and Youth Services of Tulsa. Throughout her career, she has remained deeply committed to serving children, adolescents, adults, and families facing significant life challenges.

As the founder of BLJ Counseling & Consulting PC, Latia has led the organization in providing compassionate, evidence-based behavioral health services while developing collaborative partnerships with community agencies, schools, healthcare providers, and the judicial system. She utilizes a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches and interventions in office-based, community-based, and school-based settings, tailoring treatment to meet each client's unique needs.

Education & Upbringing

Born and raised in North Tulsa, Oklahoma, Latia's passion for serving others was shaped by her community and life experiences. She graduated from Memorial High School before attending Tulsa Junior College and Langston University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Corrections with a minor in Criminal Justice. She later earned a Master of Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma and completed doctoral coursework in Adult Education at Oklahoma State University.

Community Leadership

Latia is committed to creating healthier communities through advocacy, education, and collaboration. Through Parker's Hope for Mental Wellness and BLJ Counseling & Consulting PC, she works to expand access to behavioral health services, educate the public about mental wellness, and empower individuals and families to overcome adversity with hope, dignity, and resilience.

Group therapy provides a safe, supportive, and confidential environment where individuals can learn, grow, and connect with others facing similar life challenges. Led by a licensed mental health professional, groups focus on developing healthy coping skills, improving communication, building resilience, enhancing emotional regulation, and strengthening interpersonal relationships. Participants have the opportunity to gain insight, receive encouragement, share experiences, and practice new skills while fostering a sense of belonging and mutual support. Group topics may include stress management, anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, grief, self-esteem, healthy relationships, life transitions, and overall emotional wellness.
